use of trained otters to catch fish in China. The otter is muzzled to prevent it eating the fish and is tied by a line to its trainer. The otter may catch the fish or chase them into nets which are then hauled out with the otter and the captured fish, cf. cormorant fishing. Also carried out in India, Burma, Malaysia, Thailand Sumatra and Sri Lanka, as well as in various parts of Europe, central and south America
